Series Overview
In the 20s of the 20th century, as smoking became popular among women and in high-society circles, the traditional Ronson Standard or Whirlwind felt too bulky.
Following the trend toward compact and refined designs, Ronson has launched the Gem line.
The goal was to create a lightweight, premium social lighter that feels like a "gem" in the palm of your hand—perfect for slipping into an evening gown pocket or a lady's clutch.
It primarily targets the luxury gift customization market for fashion-forward women, business professionals, and high-society individuals.
Engraved on the bottom: U.S. PAT. RE. 19,023.
This is the reissue patent number for Ronson's core "release-to-extinguish" fully automatic linkage mechanism, officially granted in 1933 12.
Single-arm linkage ignition structure.
Press the right cover to rotate the flint wheel, creating sparks to ignite the wick while lifting the wind guard. Releasing the cover allows the spring to retract, lowering the guard and extinguishing the flame.
Its body is noticeably slimmer than the Standard series, with more pronounced side curves and a sleeker, more elegant design.
This series was primarily produced from the mid-1930s to the late 1940s (gradually replaced by the thinner Adonis series after World War II).
